Dumpster Gang multiplayer and player count
One to four players, playable solo, and online. The store record does not list shared-screen play.
What co-op is for in this game
The described loop has jobs that need more than one raccoon: heavy loot is carried together, some puzzles are framed as group problems, and a raccoon caught by the Exterminator has to be rescued by someone else. What happens to a captured player who is not rescued has not been described.
The developers describe the failure states as the point. Betrayals, disasters and accidents are listed in the store text as part of the job, which is the standard shape for this genre: the comedy comes from four people making a plan and then dropping a television down a stairwell.
Reading the store categories carefully
Steam publishes a fixed set of category tags, and which ones a game carries is a genuine signal because the developer picks them deliberately. Dumpster Gang carries single-player, multi-player, co-op, online co-op, full controller support and Family Sharing.
What is absent matters as much. Steam has separate categories for shared and split screen, and for LAN co-op. Neither appears here. The Microsoft Store listing points the same way from a different direction: its structured capability list contains exactly two entries, “Online multiplayer (2-4)” and “Single player”, with nothing local. Two storefronts describing the game independently, neither of them mentioning same-screen play.

Multiplayer questions
+How many players is Dumpster Gang?
One to four. Every official description of the game says 1-4 players, and the store categories list single-player alongside multi-player and co-op, so playing alone is supported rather than tolerated.
+Can you play Dumpster Gang solo?
Yes. The store description opens with 'play solo or with friends' and single-player is one of the listed categories. What has not been explained is whether anything scales when you play alone, such as how a solo raccoon handles loot that the description says takes teamwork to carry.
+Is Dumpster Gang online or local co-op?
Online co-op is listed on the store record. Shared or split screen is not listed. Steam has a specific category for shared-screen play and this game does not carry it, which is the closest thing to an answer available before launch.
+Does Dumpster Gang have crossplay?
Not announced either way. It is a fair question because the game is coming to two PC storefronts, and crossplay between Steam and the Xbox PC app is something a developer has to build deliberately.
+Do all four players need to own the game?
Nothing has been said about a friend pass or shared copy. The store record does list Family Sharing, which is Steam's own feature for sharing a library between household accounts, not a multiplayer feature.
